Assistant Director Technology Operations

Abax Health is on a mission to close care gaps and connect healthcare data to improve outcomes for patients and providers alike. We are seeking an Associate Director of Technology Operations to drive operational excellence across the Technology organization by optimizing workflows, tools, and delivery processes that enable predictable outcomes and continuous improvement.

The role spans product, engineering, implementation, and support to ensure smooth, scalable operations and a culture of reliability, accountability, and growth readiness.

Role Summary

This position also supports the design, implementation, and administration of corporate IT systems—such as Microsoft Teams, Rippling, Atlassian, and Azure DevOps—to ensure secure, efficient, and scalable collaboration across the company.

As Abax scales from early-stage client volume to a multi-client enterprise, this position strengthens delivery resilience and reduces operational risk by ensuring redundancy in key roles and mitigating single-threaded functions and burst-period workloads.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Operations & Process Leadership

  • Lead continuous improvement of engineering processes, delivery practices, and SDLC maturity.
  • Drive Agile discipline, predictability, and visibility through ceremonies, retrospectives, and KPIs.
  • Act as a multidisciplinary “utility player” who fills operational gaps and ensures continuity during peak periods or role transitions.
  • Oversee Technology tooling strategy and administration (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, reporting).
  • Partner with Technology and Corporate IT leadership to align enterprise systems and ensure secure, reliable operations.

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Coordinate cross-team execution, dependencies, and tracking to maintain alignment with business priorities.
  • Provide transparency into initiatives, risks, and mitigation plans through dashboards and reporting.
  • Support budget oversight, capitalization reporting, and governance of enterprise tools and platforms.

Automation & Reporting

  • Implement automations, integrations, and dashboards that streamline delivery tracking and reporting.
  • Support system migrations, configuration, and integration of Technology toolchains to ensure scalability.
  • Develop and maintain Technology KPIs and dashboards for leadership visibility.

Culture & Communication

  • Promote collaboration across Technology subdomains and other corporate areas.
  • Establish communication rhythms, playbooks, and SOPs that enhance alignment and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and shared ownership of outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Technology or Engineering Operations, Program Management, or related leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in Atlassian administration (Jira, Confluence, Service Desk, StatusPage) and related toolchains.
  • Proven success improving workflows, Agile delivery, and cross-team coordination through tooling and process transformation.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and reporting skills with ability to manage executive communication.
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT systems and collaboration platforms (Microsoft Teams, Rippling, Atlassian, Azure DevOps).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting enterprise software development and cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD environments.
  • Background in Agile or Lean coaching with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of Technology financial reporting and capitalization models.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
